Geotools 2024 update
Join our webinar to learn what’s new in Geotools - the leading software for EM data analysis, inversion and interpretation. We will demonstrate the latest enhancements and new capabilities – including the newly released 3D CSAMT inversion module - and bring you up to speed on the developments underway.
What to expect:
- Live demo of the 3D CSAMT inversion workflow on a real field dataset
- How to best include geological structure as tear surfaces in the 3D inversion mesh (faults, horizons)
Moderator
Dr Stephen Hallinan, Multiphysics Director
Stephen began his professional career working for Geosystem in Milan in 1994, bought by WesternGeco (Schlumberger) in 2007. He then set up Fugro Electromagnetics Italy in 2011, which became part of Viridien in 2013. During his various assignments, Stephen has applied non-seismic geophysics to natural resource exploration, development and monitoring projects, across some 60 countries around the globe.
Stephen graduated with a degree in geology from Trinity College, Dublin in 1987 followed by a PhD on the geophysics of the Miravalles geothermal field, Costa Rica from the Open University, UK in 1991. He also conducted post-doc work on gravity modeling of the southern Brazilian shield (Sao Paolo, 1992-93).
Presenter
Alice Pavesi, Senior Geophysicist
Alice graduated with a MSc in telecommunications engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2008, with a specialization in signal and image processing. Upon graduation, she began her career as a geophysicist, engaged in projects for resource exploration and monitoring for geothermal, oil & gas and mining markets.
Over the course of her career, she has acquired expertise in geophysical data acquisition having participated in and conducted several field surveys worldwide. Alice joined CGG/Viridien in 2012 and has been working on data analysis and inversion modeling for numerous projects, focusing on electro-magnetic, potential field and passive-seismic data.
Presenter
Dr Wolfgang Soyer, Lead Geophysicist
Wolfgang graduated with a degree in physics from the University of Göttingen in 1998, enrolled in a PhD (2002) at the Free University of Berlin on geomagnetic induction studies in the Central and Southern Andes imaging zones of rheological weakness, and continued with a post-doc at the University of Alberta to perform comparable studies in the Cascadia subduction zone and to assess the Amchitka Island nuclear test site with magnetotellurics.
He joined Geosystem in Italy in 2005 where he conducted numerous geophysical field surveys for different exploration markets worldwide and analyzed multiphysics data sets of various disciplines, typically with an EM induction component, and often involving passive EM methods. During the following assignments with SLB (2007-), Fugro (2011-), and CGG/Viridien (2013-), he has continued his focus on inferring reliable property models from geophysical data sets, usually through 3D inversion modeling.
